Feb 20, 2013 (newstodate): The first Bombardier Q400 operated by a Russian airline is now in commercial service.
The airline Yakutia performed its first commercial flight with the Q400 on the route between Yakutsk to Neryungri Chulman Airport, and has thus started the process at Yakutia of phasing out the eight AN-24 aircraft now used on regional routes.
The carrier has placed orders for three Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft, with the first delivery earlier this month and the remaining two aircraft arriving shortly.
Bombardier has earlier estimated the sale potentials of the Q400 to be around 50 of these aircraft in Russia's turboprop market.
