Feb 08, 2013 (newstodate): Total cargo volumes carried by Finnair decreased during the first month of the year.
A total of 10,119 tonnes was carried, down 15.9 percent.
The decline was caused by the limited freighter traffic currently operated, where volumes were 61.2 percent down on last year's January, with a total of 1,457 tonnes.
Volumes on scheduled passenger flights were, however, rising by 3.9 percent, y-o-y, to 8,591 tonnes in January.
Crucial to Finnair, the Asian loads dropped 0.7 percent to 5,989 tonnes, while the European loads were up 24 percent to 1,766 tonnes.
On the North Atlantic traffic, volumes were up 6.9 percent, to 662 tonnes, with the cargo load factor also increasing by 2.4 percentage-points to 82.7 percent.
Within a week, Finnair Cargo is to announce the start of operations at its new European cargo hub a Brussels as well as the launch of a new revised freighter network schedule aiming at boosting loads on cargo aircraft again.
