Feb 12, 2013 (newstodate): After less than a year since the introduction of the Airbus A319, the Faroe Islands' carrier Atlantic Airways is adding a second Airbus from this spring, already.
The decision to take in a second Airbus A319 aircraft is spurred by a contract with the Danish tour operator, Atlantis Rejser taking effect from mid-2013.
Under the contract, Atlantic Airways will operate charter flights for the route operator to leisure destinations, primarily out of Denmark's Billund Airport.
The first A319 aircraft is primarily serving Atlantic Airways' trunk route between the Faroe Islands and Copenhagen Airport, in Denmark, besides a series of seasonal flights from the Faroe Islands to tourist destinations in Europe.
Atlantic Airways currently operates one Airbus 319 aircraft, one BAE Avro RJ-85 and one BAE Avro RJ-100 as well as three helicopters.
