Feb 07, 2013 (newstodate): Pharmaceutical products and ingredients for industrial use have traditionally been among Denmark's leading air cargo commodities. But new items are emerging - and growing.
Speaking at the recent Nordic Air Cargo conference in Gothenburg, Christian Hoy, AirLog CEO and President, drew attention to one of these: transit handling of North Atlantic seafood.
-We are seeing increasing loads of seafood from the Faroe Islands transiting in Denmark for onward transportation to markets like the USA and China, said Mr Hoy.
Already now, these volumes are exceeding 100 tonnes per week, according to Mr Hoy, listing seafood exports second among potentially growing commodities in the near future Nordic market, after pharmaceuticals that are estimated to be growing by 10-15 percent annually, and ahead of oil and gas.
