Dec 10, 2013 (newstodate): Europe's largest regional cargo aircraft operator, the Atlantic Group is to form a strategic partnership with the Ohio-based Air Transport Services Group, ATSG.
Under the agreement between the two parties, ATSG will take a 25 percent stake in the Gothenburg-based West Atlantic Group.
With the new partnership, West Atlantic will add the mid-size Boeing 767 freighter to its capabilities now comprising a fleet of 40 freighter aircraft including ATP,CRJ-200PF and Boeing 737-300/-400.
The new US partner is operating through several subsidiaries including ABX Air that operates a fleet of Boeing 767 freighters, most of which are flying for DHL Aviation on its international network.
In total, the ATSG is now operating close to 50 Boeing 767 freighters in addition to Boeing 757 and DC-8 freighter aircraft.
For ATSG, the deal will open up new prospects for an expanded role in the growth of the air-cargo market in the EMEA Region and throughout West Atlantic's range of operations.
West Atlantic operates in the regional and express cargo markets through its two airlines Atlantic Airlines Ltd and West Air Sweden AB.
Through its aircraft leasing company, European Turboprop Management AB, West Atlantic also includes a range of aircraft leasing services with a portfolio in excess of 50 aircraft.
Base maintenance and line maintenance control are provided by the subsidiary European Aircraft Maintenance Ltd.
