Dec 04, 2013 (newstodate): Kales is fighting to fill as much cargo as possible into the Turkish Airlines' freighter flights operating at Vilnius Airport this month.
-Turkish Airlines is operating a series of six to eight freighter flights from Istanbul to Vilnius carrying shipments destined for the Russian market, and we are actively selling the capacity on the return flights, says Audrius Lukosevicius, Kales Airline Services in Lithuania.
-We are seeing some success with this, but it is of course not an easy task as the freighter schedules are prone to changes and adjustments up to the very last minute depending on outside factors.
-I am convinced that if the service was on a regular, scheduled basis, the market would indeed be there for exports to and via Istanbul on the carrier's extensive network, says Mr Lukosevicius.
Turkish Airlines is also operating passenger flights with belly-cargo capacity on the route between Istanbul and Riga since April 19, 2006, as well as on the latest Baltic venture, the new triangular route Istanbul-Tallinn-Vilnius-Istanbul launched on June 11, 2013 with three weekly rotations.
