Dec 02, 2013 (newstodate): The rejuvenated Serb carrier Air Serbia is energetically expanding its fleet and opening up a spree of new routes.
The airline took delivery of its fourth Airbus A319 on the first day of December, and a fifth is to follow within a few weeks, while a sixth Airbus till join around the turn of the year.
New routes are also opened, including flights from Belgrade to Prague and Banja Luka.
New destinations in the summer 2014 schedule will include Beirut, Budapest, Kiev, Warsaw, Sofia and Varna, and flights to Bucharest and Ljubljana are to be inaugurated before the end of this month.
Bent on expansion, Air Serbia plans to serve 39 destinations in 30 countries, offering 73,000 seats on more than 670 flights a week by June 2014.
On August 1, 2013, Etihad Airways formally took ownership of 49 percent of the stake in Serbia's JAT, now branded as Air Serbia.
