Dec 12, 2013 (newstodate): As also supported by figures from IATA's CASS monthly statistics, airfreight volumes keep growing at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
In November, the total volumes of freight and mail grew only moderately by 2.2 percent, y-o-y, to 10,189 tonnes, including 7,769 tonnes of international cargo, up 9.6 percent, and domestic cargo, 2,240 tonnes which was a drop by 16.2 percent.
Despite the relatively moderate growth in November, January-November totals are still up by 14.3 percent, y-o-y, to 109,395 tonnes including 80,668 tonnes of international cargo, up 18.8 percent, and 28,728 tonnes of domestic cargo that grew only 0.7 percent, y-o-y.
Oslo Gardermoen Airport is also seeing the continued growth of freighter capacity as Qatar Airways introduced a third Boeing 777F frequency from October 27, 2013.
Asiana Cargo is already serving Oslo Gardermoen Airport with three weekly Boeing 747-400F freighter service since September 7, 2012, and Korean Air Cargo has been operating from Oslo to Seoul since March 9, 2004, also now offering three weekly rotations.
Among these, only Asiana Cargo is not member of CASS in the Nordic region and therefore not comprised by the statistics.
