Dec 23, 2013 (newstodate): One Russian carrier is to leave the skies from the end of this year: Tatarstan Airlines.
Following on the fatal accident with crash of a Boeing 737-500 aircraft on November 17, 2013, the Russian authorities have revoked Tatarstan Airlines' AOC with effect from December 31, 2013, for failing to comply with safety regulations.
Based at Kazan Airport and ranking as No 23 among Russia's carrier as to passenger volumes, the airline has been operating a fleet of nine aircraft.
The services so far provided by Tatarstan Airlines will be transferred to another Russian carrier, Ak Bars Aero that was formerly part of Tatarstan Airlines.
