Dec 06, 2013 (newstodate): Starting from December 2, 2013, TNT has infused larger capacity into its freighter service from Brussels to Jonkoping, Sweden, continuing to Helsinki, in Finland.
The service operated five times weekly is now served with a Boeing 737 freighter, replacing the BAe 146 freighter that has been operating the route since TNT Sweden established its regional hub at Jonkoping Airport on June 2, 2008.
With the Boeing 737 freighter, capacity will increase to 16.5 tonnes against the 10.5 tonnes capacity of the BAe 146 aircraft.
As the capacity on the feeder traffic from Brussels has thus been significantly increased, the pressure will grow for more capacity on the onward routes flying TNT In-night shipments into Oslo, in Norway, and Billund, in Denmark.
According to industry sources, capacity on the flights between Jonkoping and Oslo as well as the flights to Billund will therefore also be upgraded with introduction of larger aircraft, probably already from January 2014.
Since April 10, 2012, TNT has been cooperating with Farnair operating an ATR 42-300 freighter on behalf of time:matters, carrying shipments from Baden Airpark, the airport serving Karlsruhe in Germany, to Jonkoping Airport and continuing to Billund Airport, in Denmark.
TNT In-night shipments for Oslo are currently carried by West Atlantic's ATP freighters.
