Dec 18, 2013 (newstodate): The Icelandic carrier Air Arctic is to integrate fully with the new carrier under formation, Greenland Express.
Besides taking stakes in each others companies, as already reported by newstodate, Air Arctic is also to shelve its own brand name in favor of co-branding with Greenland Express.
-These are certainly rather big moves, but really only logic in the way we are doing this as a single entity now, says Einar Adalsteinsson, Air Arctic co-owner and CEO.
-Both companies had big plans before coming under the same ownership, so a lot of work had already been done on both sides. Greenland Express is an instantly recognizable name, which will make for easier marketing in our part of the world.
-We certainly believe in moving forward as one strong unit, says Mr Adalsteinsson.
As earlier reported by newstodate, Greenland Express is to launch flights from spring 2014 with wet-leased Denim Air Embraer 190 aircraft operating on the basis of the Dutch carrier's AOC that has now been amended by the Dutch authorities clearing for Arctic operations.
At the same time, Air Arctic has been working on a new business plan to provide flight services to and from Iceland, between Iceland and Greenland as well as outside the region.
These plans also include implementation from 2014 of a fleet program comprising new ATR aircraft as well as larger jet aircraft like Boeing 737 for ACMI and charter services offered in the European market.
