Dec 10, 2013 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo saw growth in cargo volumes in November 2013 - but 11-month volumes still lag slightly behind last year.
A total of 12,817 tonnes of cargo was carried by Finnair, an increase by 6.5 percent, y-o-y, while January-November volumes at 134,894 tonnes are still 1.5 percent below last year.
In November the Asian traffic was still 4.2 percent below last year's, now accruing to 6,823 tonnes while the 11 month Asian volumes at 74,719 tonnes are down 3.9 percent, y-o-y.
Also in November the European and N American volumes were up by 3.4 and 9.7 percent, respectively, to 1,974 and 677 tonnes.
Cargo carried on Finnair's freighter operations developed strongly with an increase by 45.1 percent to 3,170 tonnes, also boosted by the company's launch of a twice-weekly freighter service to Hanoi, in Vietnam, from this winter schedule also comprising two weekly rotations between Helsinki and Hong Kong, one weekly rotation to New York, and two weekly rotations between Helsinki and the carrier's second European cargo hub, Brussels.
Cargo load factors increased on both the N Atlantic and the Asian segments, and Finnair cargo may after all break even in volumes with 2012 provided a healthy traffic in the last month of this year.
