Dec 03, 2013 (newstodate): The Belarus carrier Belavia is expanding its traffic and route network in 2013 - and it shows in the statistics.
The carrier has thus seen its cargo volumes up by 15.4 percent, y-o-y, in November 2013 when a total of 180 tonnes of cargo and mail was carried.
During the first 11 months of this year, the total volumes were 1,816 tonnes - an increase by 19.2 percent, y-o-y.
In 2012 the carrier transported 1,697 tonnes of cargo and mail, which was seven percent up on 2011.
Flights will be launched between Minsk and Vilnius, in Lithuania, on December 19, 2013, December 17 will see the start of services to Geneva, and earlier in 2013 the carrier also launched flights on new routes from Minsk to Samara, Kutaisi, Budapest and Belgrade.
Belavia is currently in a process to gradually phase out its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, replacing them successively with new Embraer and Bombardier aircraft.
