Nov 12, 2013 (newstodate): Poland's Warsaw Chopin Airport has seen its cargo volumes rising in the first three quarters of 2013, while slowing down somewhat during the latter part of the period.
During the first nine months of this year, the airport's total volumes increased by 5.6 percent, y-o-y, to 34,700 tonnes, including 34,200 tonnes of international cargo that increased by 5.7 percent.
During the period, international import shipments were up by two percent to 19,600 tonnes, while international exports increased by 11.2 percent to 14,600 tonnes.
The airport's mail volumes were down by 10.5 percent, y-o-y, to 11,200 tonnes.
Leading cargo destinations at Warsaw Chopin Airport were Cologne with UPS' hub with 5,800 tonnes, DHL's hub at Leipzig with 4,000 tonnes, , Chicago with 2,900 tonnes, Dubai with 2,600 tonnes, and New York with 2,200 tonnes.
Leading cargo carriers were LOT lifting 12,000 tonnes, UPS with 7,000 tonnes, EAT serving TNT with 3,900 tonnes, Emirates with 2,600 tonnes, and Sprint Air with 1,500 tonnes.
