Nov 04, 2013 (newstodate): Like most other airports in Sweden, Malmo Sturup Airport is also seeing its cargo volumes dipping in 2013.
In September, a total of 1,790 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport - a decrease by 8.8 percent, y-o-y.
For the first nine months of 2013, the total volumes are thus 16,659 tonnes, which is down 10.7 percent compares to 2012.
-There is really no major change in the cargo traffic pattern at the airport in 2012, says Peter Weinhandl, Malmo Sturup Airport manager.
-Rather, volumes are just less, reflecting the over-all trend in the Swedish airfreight market in 2013. I trust, however, that we will see a return of volumes again soon, driven by the growth in internet trade, says Mr Weinhandl.
The integrators UPS and TNT are operating at the airport close to Copenhagen on the other side of the Oeresund.
