Nov 27, 2013 (newstodate): Iberia is expanding its services between Madrid and Scandinavia in 2014.
The carrier will launch flights on the route from Madrid to Stockholm, Sweden, starting from April 2, 2014, offering two weekly rotations operated by Iberia's subsidiary Iberia Express using Airbus A320 aircraft.
The carrier is also to increase frequencies on the route from Madrid to Copenhagen, Denmark, from currently seven to nine weekly rotations starting by March 4, 2014.
With the new flights from Madrid by Iberia to Scandinavia, the competition will heat up further after Norwegian's announcement of the opening of their new base at Madrid with routes to Stockholm from June 4, 2014, and to Oslo in Norway from June 3, 2014.
Norwegian is already operating between Madrid and Copenhagen since April 5, 2013, and is also to launch services between Madrid and Helsinki in Finland, from June 4, 2014.
In Sweden and Denmark, Iberia will also be competing with SAS, while Finnair is already serving Madrid from Helsinki.
