Nov 08, 2013 (newstodate): As a result of the liberalization of air services between Finland and Russia, a second Russian carrier will enter the route between Moscow and Helsinki from 2014.
New on the route will be S7 Sibir starting from April 26, 2014, with daily rotations using Airbus A319 aircraft.
Currently serving the route are Aeroflot and Finnair, but with the signatures earlier this year to a new amendment to the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between Russia and Finland, the market was opened for entry of a second carrier from each side to operate flights between Helsinki and Moscow, scrapping the notion of "national carrier".
Today, Finnair and Aeroflot are code-sharing their flights on the route, while Finnair is actually a member of the oneworld airline alliance together with S7 Sibir.
