Nov 26, 2013 (newstodate): One airline took the final step to the top ranking in the October 2013 CASS statistics for Norway: KLM Cargo!
The carrier grew its volumes by 49.1 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 1,589 tonnes, representing a market share at 15.7 percent.
-In the statistics, KLM Cargo excludes Air France Cargo, but if AF Cargo was added, we came to 18.7 percent market share in Norway for the Air France KLM Group, says Noud Duyzings, Director KLM/Air France/Martinair Cargo Nordic.
-Like any other carrier in this market we are fighting for Norway's seafood exports which is a highly competitive low-yield business. Anyhow, our approach is to stay close to the customer in order to secure longer-term commitments, and we are permanently present on the west coast where Chris Jaabak and colleagues are deeply involved with our customers in the industry.
-We have a scheduled airfreight trucking service from Kristiansand directly into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, and this service is invariably filled to the brim.
-At the same time, we are also seeking close cooperation with other segments of Norway's industries, not least the oil and gas companies, while general cargo is also a focus area for us.
-Right now there is indeed a large over-capacity in the market which translates into rock-bottom rates. It is, however, conditions shared by all competitors, and our efforts are focused on securing a sustainable business in the Norwegian markets, says Mr Duyzings.
