Nov 29, 2013 (newstodate): Efforts by the Croatian government to sell the country's national carrier Croatia Airlines have stuck ground.
A tender for privatization of the carrier comprising 49 percent of the shares was launched on October 15, 2013 - but as the first round of the tender period ended, not a single bid had been landed.
The carrier has seen both passenger volumes and revenues declining in 2013, and as the state is now member of the EU from July 1 this year, it is barred from saving the carrier through capital injections.
The government now intends to open a second round in the tender process in spring 2014 hoping for more interest among airlines.
The carrier operates a fleet comprising seven airbus A320 Family and six Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 aircraft.
