Nov 05, 2013 (newstodate): In September 2013, the latest month covered by CASS statistics, Lufthansa Cargo dipped 15.1 percent, y-o-y, in volumes in the Danish market.
-Looking behind the figures, it is really not as bad as it looks, says Alexander Kohnen, Lufthansa Cargo Director for the Nordic and Baltic countries.
-We are seeing our export volumes returning to steady growth in October, but it remains a fact, of course, that the market is rather depressed and competition focusing very strongly on rates.
-In this respect, Lufthansa Cargo upholds the strategy of refraining from business that does not yield a fair contribution to cover operational costs. Anyhow, it is more or less business as usual in Denmark.
-One thing stands out, however: we are enjoying a very satisfactory level of quality in cargo handling provided by Swissport at Copenhagen Airport, and this reflects positively on our over-all performance in the market, says Mr Kohnen.
Following a tender process, Lufthansa Cargo moved to Swissport as its cargo handling provider at Copenhagen Airport from December 1, 2012, replacing Lufthansa Cargo's long-term cooperation with Spirit Air Cargo Handling.
