Nov 01, 2013 (newstodate): The Icelandic low-cost carrier WOW Air has now obtained its own AOC.
The first flight under own AOC was performed on October 30, 2013, by one of the carrier's Airbus A320 aircraft.
Launching its first flight on June 1, 2012, WOW Air was established by by Skuli Mogensen and Matthias Imsland, former Iceland Express CEO.
In October 2012, WOW Air took over its long-established competitor Iceland Express through an outright acquisition.
The carrier operates a fleet comprising four Airbus A320 aircraft and expects to add a fifth Airbus A320 in 2014.
WOW Air has earlier stated that after obtaining its own AOC, plans are to introduce flights to the USA from 2014 and, further down the line, to Asian destinations as well.
