Nov 12, 2013 (newstodate): Air Maintenance Estonia AS, based at Tallinn Airport, is reporting sound business in 2013 and good prospects for 2014 as well.
-Actually all three heavy maintenance lines are full until February 2014, our new hangar facilities are operating perfectly well, and even if we have, of course, had our ups and downs also in 2013, this year has performed very well for us, says David Williams, AME managing director & CEO.
-Our single largest customers throughout this year has been the Russian carrier UTAir. Since February 2013 we have been performing C-checks on their Boeing 737 Classics, with the UTAir standing literally note to tail at our hangar. These works will continue into 2014 as well.
-Another novelty in 2013 is our Part 21V certification, landed in 2013, that allows us to produce, and not just to maintain, a range of aircraft interior parts including textiles, plastics, metal and other materials.
Officially opened on September 5, 2013, AME's new hangar covers a total of 14,000 sq m including three maintenance bays, back shops, offices and facilities, and the bays are designed to allow for heavy maintenance work on both Airbus and Boeing aircraft simultaneously.
AME is also to add a third hangar to be used for aircraft painting.
-An LoI will actually be signed this week with a partner, and all that remains now is for the airport to approve the plan after which the construction of the new hangar will be started, says Mr Williams.
He expects the matter to be finalized very shortly, with an announcement to be issued by the end of this month.
