Nov 28, 2013 (newstodate): With immediate effect from November 27, Estonian Air has terminated its cooperation with Lithuania's new carrier Air Lituanica.
-Air Lituanica has repeatedly and on an ongoing basis failed to meet its payment obligations towards Estonian Air as set forth in our agreements. Estonian Air has been forced to terminate the contracts due to these breaches by Air Lituanica breaches that have not been cured in spite of continuous talks and settlement proposals by Estonian Air, says Jan Palm�r, Estonian Air CEO, in a press release.
Estonian Air will continue flights on the Vilnius-Amsterdam route according to the current flight schedule, while the decision on servicing the Vilnius-Berlin route will be taken within this week.
According to the Flight Services Agreement now terminated, Estonian Air was to provide flight services to Air Lituanica using one Embraer E170 jet until the end of 2015.
The aircraft was dedicated for flights from Vilnius to Amsterdam and Berlin.
In addition to aircraft lease, the airlines have also cooperated in commercial services, like sales of tickets on point-to-point and connecting flights, revenue management, interline and code-share agreements.
In the fleet of Air Lituanica is now only one Embraer 175 aircraft, delivered on a leasing contract with ECC Leasing Company, an Embraer subsidiary.
