Nov 26, 2013 (newstodate): Danish Air Transport is to let go one of its two MD aircraft.
-The market for the MD-87 is practically non-existent during the winter season, and as the lease of the aircraft expires in December 2013 we have decided to hand its back to its owner, thus also avoiding its forthcoming maintenance check, says Jesper Rungholm, DAT CEO and co-owner.
-The aircraft has served us absolutely well for over five years, and our second MD aircraft, an MD-83, will remain with us to cover the top-end of our aircraft fleet.
-The MD-83 is owned by DAT and may therefore take a nap in-between assignment without financial strains. It is currently operated by Coca Cola and with some intermittent pauses, it is actually occupied with charter operations till September 2014, says Mr Rungholm.
For Coca Cola, the MD-83 is now flying to 89 countries all over the world during nine months to promote the WM finals in Brazil in 2014.
