Nov 04, 2013 (newstodate): A Chinese company won the tender for redeveloping Russia's Kaluga Grabtsevo Airport, in the Kaluga region, and is planning with an ultra-tight schedule.
The Chinese company Petro-Hehua will start construction works later this month and will complete the project by autumn 2013.
In the plans are upgrading of the 2,200 m runway, new taxiways and new aircraft parking stands.
The airport was acquired by Volkswagen Russia in 2008 after being transferred from state to regional ownership.
Plans are to serve corporate air traffic from automotive companies in the region including Peugeot, Citroen, Mitsubishi and Volvo, but in the business plan is also construction of a helicopter maintenance facility, and the airport will also seek to attract regular passenger and cargo traffic.
