Nov 08, 2013 (newstodate): Starting from next month, Lithuania and Belarus will get direct online flight connection.
The Belarus carrier Belavia is planning for launch of services between Minsk and Vilnius from December 19, 2013, offering eight weekly rotations using CRJ100 or CRJ200 aircraft on the 40-minutes flights.
No other airlines currently offer direct flights between the two countries, and besides the point-to-point service Belavia is also targeting passengers for transit via Minsk on Belavia's network to other CIS destinations.
Belavia also started flights from Minsk to Riga, in Latvia, from January 2010.
In 2012 the carrier transported 1,284,201 passengers and 1,697 tonnes of cargo and mail, which was 23.9 and seven percent up on 2011, respectively.
