Nov 29, 2013 (newstodate): While other issues between Ukraine and the EU may be cooling down at the ongoing EU Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, progress is at least seen in the field of civil aviation.
Thus, EU and Ukraine have inked their signatures to an agreement on a common aviation area, which will allow any airline registered in EU or Ukraine to operate freely and without restrictions on any route between the two areas.
Restrictions on capacity or frequency will thus be removed as the agreement takes effect from summer 2015.
For the new agreement to take effect, Ukraine is obliged to bring its existing legislation fully into accord with EU standards.
Work towards the coming new single aviation area started in 2007.
