Nov 25, 2013 (newstodate): Albania's first low cost carrier, Belle Air has flown into severe financial troubles, causing it to suspend air services from November 25, 2013.
On its website, the carrier cites the general economic situation, the decline of the purchasing power, recession in the markets it operates as well as from the freezing for over 18 days of its bank accounts as the cause behind the decision.
The carrier is now starting efforts to restructure its operations and seek fresh investors, foreign and domestic, to return into business.
-This is a sad day for you and for us at Belle Air, the company's message ends.
Belle Air performed its first commercial flight on December 15, 2005, and has been operating international flights on scheduled services to destinations in Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Switzerland and the UK out of Tirana International Airport.
