Oct 03, 2013 (newstodate): At its hearing on October 2, 2013, the
Highest Economic Court in Kiev decided to cancel all decisions taken by the first two court instances, and to redirect the case to the first instance for review.
-The court ruling creates a new starting point from which Swissport is expecting to get its 70.6 percent majority ownership of the former Swissport Ukraine, now trading as Interavia, and the respective shares back, says Swissport in a release.
-This was indeed most positive news. We are now back to a level playing field, says Mark Skinner, Swissport SVP Ground Handling.
-We will invite UIA to an open roundtable discussion. We are open to find an amicable solution with UIA, as it was our intention from the beginning, and will drive things forward.
-UIA is the local player and knows the market intimately. Swissport knows the industry and airlines' expectations as to quality and international standards, and we are determined to bring the airport handling business back to standards prevailing one year ago.
-It will not, of course, be easy. Both sides are aware of the past experience, and we will definitely still need the support from the legal system, the Anti-Raider Commission and the government to land this process to the satisfaction of all parties. But I remain positive, says Mr Skinner.
