Oct 10, 2013 (newstodate): Swissport's hopes for regaining the lost shares in the former JV with UIA, Swissport Ukraine now named INTERAVIA, are not supported by its opponent.
On October 2, 2013, the Superior Economic Court of Ukraine reversed the previous court rulings and recommitted the Swissport International and UIA case to the first-instance court.
In a press release on the date, Swissport said that "The court ruling creates a new starting point from which Swissport is expecting to get its 70.6 percent majority ownership of the former Swissport Ukraine, now trading as Interavia, and the respective shares back".
No way, is the response by UIA in a recent rebuttal.
-Given that the Superior Economic Court of Ukraine reversed previous court rulings and recommitted the case to the first-instance court, there are no reasons to redeliver INTERAVIA property back to Swissport International.
-Regarding INTERAVIA operations, UIA claims that its subsidiary operates sustainably and continuously and litigation will not affect INTERAVIAs operations in the slightest. UIA has acted and will continue to act in the best interest of its subsidiary.
-INTERAVIA will continue operating in the current mode under command of the current shareholders, Swissport International not being one of them, the statement reads.
So the two contending parties seem worlds apart before meeting again for a new round at Ukraine's first-instance court.
