Oct 29, 2013 (newstodate): Sweden's Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is seeing its cargo volumes drastically down in 2013.
After the first nine months of 2013, the airport has been handling a total of 37,632 tonnes of cargo - a decline by 27 percent, y-o-y.
The significant drop in volumes are caused primarily by loss of Asiana Cargo's twice-weekly Boeing 747-400F freighter calls since September 7, 2012, when the carrier moved its operations to Oslo Gardermoen. Also the airport has seen no substitute for this carrier to fill the void.
In September 2013, the airport handled 1,330 tonnes of cargo, a drop by 6.4 percent, y-o-y.
The airport still handles three weekly Boeing 777F freighter rotations between Gothenburg and Dubai by Emirates.
