Oct 07, 2013 (newstodate): Hungary's Gyor-Per International Airport, west of Budapest, is one new customer at Denmark's Vestergaard Company.
Vestergaard is in the process of delivering one Elephant Sigma de-icing vehicle to the airport to enhance the airport's winter capability.
-The new vehicle will allow us to secure flight operations at the airport during the coming winter season, says Laszlo Vadasz, Gyor-Per International Airport managing director.
-We are currently seeing only ad-hoc flight operations as the passenger terminal is capable of handling only 60 passengers per hour. Plans are on the table, though, for modernization of the existing terminal to handling of up to 200 passengers per hour, as a precondition for attracting more traffic to the airport.
-We are now seeking investments to start the reconstruction of the terminal and hope to find this from our owners that are Audi, the local government and the Hungarian state. If successful, we would plan to start construction works by 2014 and commission the new facilities one year later.
-Air cargo is also very much part of our business plan. We are currently installing cargo screening equipment to meet today's demands for cargo security, but we have no cargo warehouse which will limit us to handling of ad-hoc cargo operations, says Mr Vadasz.
