Oct 16, 2013 (newstodate): Reports on the Georgian carrier FlyGeorgia having had its AOC revoked are still premature - but the carrier is in deep mire.
-We can confirm that a process is ongoing for evaluation of FlyGeorgia's AOC, but a decision has yet to be made, pending a forthcoming meeting, says Sophio Sulava, Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, Head of Administrative Department.
Other media have speculated that a decision was actually already made on October 15, 2013.
The privately-owned carrier FlyGeorgia took delivery of its first Airbus A319 aircraft on July 28, 2012, later adding one more Airbus A319 and one Airbus A320 aircraft, but three aircraft have been arrested and handed back to the leasing companies after FlyGeorgia ran into severe financial problems.
The carrier is now reportedly struggling to keep in the air with one Boeing 737-300 aircraft on a wet-lease contract.
