Oct 28, 2013 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport will see two new airlines arriving during this winter schedule, as well as the opening of new routes.
New to come are Turkmenistan Airlines that will be offering direct flights between Ashgabat and Riga Airport, and the Russian carrier Polet Airlines launching flights on a new route between Voronezh and Riga.
Starting from December 16, 2013, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is also to open up a new route to be served four times weekly in cooperation with Etihad Airlines, connecting Riga and Abu Dhabi under a code-share agreement.
Six other airlines currently operating at Riga Airport have announced an increase in frequencies to 18 destinations including Amsterdam, Kaunas, Kiev, Lappeenranta, London, Moscow, Paris, Prague, Stavanger, Vienna, Bergen, Copenhagen, Minsk, and Istanbul
Riga International Airport will thus be connected with direct flights to 70 destinations operated by airBaltic, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Aeroflot, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Finnair, Uzbekistan Airways, LOT, UTair, Transaero, Belavia, Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines Group, Turkmenistan Airlines, Polet Airlines, Corendon, SmartLynx.
