Oct 14, 2013 (newstodate): Plans for launch of a new Danish carrier, Northern Star Aviation are advancing.
-Media, including newstodate, have erroneously reported that Northern Star Aviation is working towards launch of services from the start of January 2014. This is of course not correct, says Jens Blauenschild, chairman of the board of the projected airline.
-What we are working on now is the legal foundation and financial basis of the new carrier, and this work will hopefully be completed by the turn of the year. After that we will be able to start building up the company, first of all focusing on the paperwork and documentation required to obtain the pertinent approvals by the Danish regulatory body Trafikstyrelsen to operate the aircraft to be leased.
-Plans are to build an aircraft fleet comprising three CRJ200 and three Boeing 757-200 freighter aircraft. Initially, the AOC holder will be North Flying, but we will of course seek our own AOC at a later stage. Cooperating with an established airline will, however, save us time and allow for an earlier start of operations.
-In our plans is Aarhus Airport as the locality for our HQs. But we are in dialogue also with both Aalborg Airport and Copenhagen Airport to ensure that we make our final decision based on the solution most benefiting our future operations, says Mr Blauenschild.
