Oct 17, 2013 (newstodate): A Russian company has emerged the winner of the tender for ownership and management of Moldova's Chisinau International Airport.
Under the 49-years contract, Aviainvest will now undertake a series of investments in project to modernize and expand the existing airport's infrastructure.
First on the agenda is a redevelopment of the airport's runway and taxiway system including a new apron area.
Chisinau International Airport now has one 3,590 m concrete runway and handled 1.2 mio passengers and 2,800 tonnes of cargo in 2012.
The passenger volume is expected to grow to 2.6 mio after the construction of a new passenger terminal.
