Oct 17, 2013 (newstodate): After Ukraine has finally succeeded in regaining its Category I status from the US authorities, hopes are now for the early signatures to an open skies agreement.
As the main obstacle has been removed, Ukraine hopes that an agreement between Ukraine and the USA can be struck before the end of this year, allowing for launch of direct flights by Ukrainian carrier to destinations in the USA.
As a first bid, Ukraine International Airlines is already planning to start operations from Belgrade to New York from April 2014, with at least five rotations per week.
Further down the road are plans to add flights also to other US destinations including Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, and Miami.
