Oct 30, 2013 (newstodate): The Gulf carrier Qatar Airways has taken a clear lead in Norway's IATA export air cargo statistics for September 2013.
The carrier transported no less than 18.8 percent of all IATA cargo from Norway, corresponding to 1,718 tonnes and increasing 122.4 percent, y-o-y.
Starting from January 29, 2013, Qatar Airways Cargo became online at Oslo Gardermoen Airport with a Boeing 777F freighter as a stop on the route from Amsterdam to Doha, and from July 6, 2013, the company added a second freighter frequency at Oslo.
And it is not going to stop there: from October 27, 2013, the carrier has introduced a third weekly frequency with Boeing 777F freighter aircraft from Oslo Gardermoen Airport which will again boost the carrier's standing in the Norwegian market focusing on the country's seafood exports.
Second in September was KLM Cargo that also grew its volumes by 39.1 percent to 1,133 tonnes, securing a market share at 12.4 percent.
Third was Finnair Cargo with 971 tonnes but down 35.6 percent, followed by Korean Air Cargo with 948 tonnes, down 4.3 percent, and Emirates, down 7.7 percent to 603 tonnes.
Growing the most in September was Air France Cargo, up 404.8 percent to 465 tonnes, while Lufthansa Cargo dipped the most among the top-10 carriers, down 43.1 percent to 429 tonnes, landing last on the list.
