Oct 01, 2013 (newstodate): Parts of veils covering plans for launch of a new Danish carrier, Northern Star Aviation, can now be lifted.
While the project itself keeps tight-lipped, industry sources provide some insight into the plans of the new carrier.
Northern Star Aviation is aiming at start of operations already in January 2014, with a focus on special charter operations and cargo services with a fleet of three CRJ200 and with another three Boeing 757-200 freighter aircraft to follow.
The aircraft will reportedly be acquired and owned by a new investment group under formation, Blauenshild Holding, while AOC holder will be the Norwegian carrier North Flying AS, managed by Stefan Vilner as CEO and with HQs at Aalborg Airport and specializing in air taxi, air ambulance, and freight, as well as training, photo, and banner flights with a fleet of 12 turboprop and small jet aircraft.
The CRJ200 aircraft will lift 50 passengers or six stretchers for medevac/air ambulance services.
Of the three Boeing 757-200 aircraft, one will reportedly be in a combi-version allowing for quick change between cargo and/or passenger transportation, specifically targeting the military segment.
Behind the new carrier under formation are Jens Blauenschild as chairman of the board, as well as Jacob Rasmussen who is managing Global Reach Aviation specializing in ambulance and medevac operations, as well as Hedin Krett who is known among readers of newstodate for his persistent efforts to set up a cargo carrier to serve a/o the Faroese seafood exporters.
While keeping a low public profile, Northern Star Aviation is now already in the market seeking long-term ACMI commitments especially for its planned freighter fleet.
