Oct 16, 2013 (newstodate): More details on the new Russian low-cost carrier under formation, Dobrolet, are now emerging.
The 100 percent Aeroflot-owned carrier is expected to enter commercial service by spring 2014 already, with a fleet of eight Boeing 737-800 in its first year.
This fleet will grow by another eight aircraft annually till about 40 after its first five years of operations. By then, the fleet may also be augmented by the introduction of Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
From the start the route map will comprise flights from Domodedovo Airport to eight Russian destinations St Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Ufa, Noviy Urengoy, Makhachkala.
After its first year of operations, the route network will grow to 19 and by 2016 to 26 destinations including also international routes to cities like Kiev, Istanbul and Yerevan.
Crucial to the project will be modifications to the country's existing and highly restrictive legislation, expected to be implemented by 2014.
