Oct 15, 2013 (newstodate): Airbus is reporting sustained progress in its Airbus A350 XWB test program.
The first aircraft, first in the air since June 14, 2013, has now performed 73 flights generating some 330 flight hours, and the second production aircraft to participate in the test flights program took to the air on its first flight on October 14, 2013.
The third Airbus A350 XWB aircraft to join the test flights team will be also the first to be equipped with a full cabin, and is also now standing on its own landing gear.
Airbus now expects to deliver the first aircraft for commercial operations to launch customer Qatar Airways in the first half of 2014.
So far, the manufacturer has booked 725 firm orders, primarily for the larger version the Airbus A350-900 XWB.
