Jan 23, 2013 (newstodate): With the downfall of Ukraine's ailing carrier Aerosvit, WIZZ Air Ukraine plans to expand its business significantly.
The carrier declares itself ready to take over more than 20 routes from Kiev to a wide range of former Aerosvit destinations including Vilnius, Prague, Warsaw, Larnaca, Moscow, St Petersburg, Minsk, Yerevan, Baku, and Batumi.
On several of these and other Aerosvit routes WIZZ Air would compete against Ukraine International Airlines, but the carrier feels confident that competition will be played by the rule and that each carrier will have to qualify for routes and destinations on equal terms.
Wizz Air Ukraine was the country's first low-cost carrier, starting operations from July 18, 2008 with Airbus A320 aircraft.
WIZZ Air Ukraine now plans for increasing its traffic four-fold over the next three years, and will add a further six Airbus A320 aircraft during the period.
