Jan 18, 2013 (newstodate): Turkish Airlines was expected to expand its services to the countries in the Baltic region from summer 2013 - but only now have concrete plans emerged.
Already serving Riga, in Latvia, with flights from Istanbul since April 19, 2006, Turkish Airlines is now also to enter both Tallinn, in Estonia, and Vilnius, in Lithuania.
It will, however, be through a routing from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Tallinn, continuing to Vilnius and returning to Istanbul, rather than direct nonstop routes to these two destinations.
The new route will be launched from June 11, 2013, with three weekly rotations using Airbus A319 aircraft.
Turkish Airlines is now offering five weekly flights between Riga and Istanbul, while the Latvian carrier airBaltic is increasing to daily rotations from this summer's schedule.
