Jan 15, 2013 (newstodate): Europe's first operator of the new Boeing 787 aircraft, LOT will take delivery of its 3rd aircraft by the end of this month.
The latest aircraft has now completed its delivery flight and will land at Warsaw Airport during the last week of January after a series of pre-delivery formalities.
LOT received its first Boeing 787 on November 15, 2012, and took delivery of the second aircraft of this type on December 21, 2012.
The carrier has placed orders for a total of eight Dreamliner aircraft, and the Dreamliner fleet will grow to five aircraft by March 2013.
Current owners of the airline are the Polish government, 68 percent, Regionalny Fundusz Gospodarczy S.A., 25 percent, and employees 6.93 percent.
The carrier is, however, in deep financial problems, and while several attempts have been made to sell the state's stake in LOT, the ailing airline has not so far succeeded in its efforts.
