Jan 09, 2013 (newstodate): Air cargo volumes on Russian carriers grew only slightly in the first 11 months of 2012, according to latest Russian statistics.
A total of 898,452 tonnes of cargo was transported by Russian carriers - only 0.7 percent over 2011.
In November 2012 alone, the carriers lifted a total of 93,040 tonnes, which was just one percent above 2011-levels.
The Top-5 airlines in cargo transportation were ABC Airlines with 323,258 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 3.6 percent y-o-y, Aeroflot with 177,794 tonnes and up 23 percent, Volga-Dnepr 59,778 tonnes and up 7.7 percent, Transaero 59,478 tonnes and up 29.1 percent, and S7 with 33,772 tonnes and up 7.6 percent, y-o-y.
During the first 11 months of 2012, the Top-5 carriers thus increased their share of the almost stagnating Russian airfreight market by 6.8 percent, y-o-y, to 72.8 percent, together accounting for a total of 654,080 tonnes.
In the same period in 2011, the Top-5 carriers accounted for 68.7 percent of the market with a total of 612,637 tonnes.
