Jan 24, 2013 (newstodate): Russia's Ufa International Airport, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, has secured federal state funds to continue the ongoing redevelopment of the airport.
Work on a new passenger terminal is currently progressing, with plans for completion by March 2015.
Other works include construction of a new taxiway system as well as other infrastructure, but funds have now been allocated to support these works.
The airport, one of Russia's 12 strategically important gateways and home base for the LCC Air Bashkortostan and Ufa Airlines, has three grass airstrips as well as one 3,761m and one 2,513m concrete runway.
So far the only non-Russian airlines operating at Ufa Airport are flyDubai, Air Arabia, CSA, Turkish Airlines, and Uzbekistan Airways.
The airport's masterplan 2030 includes a range of development projects that will see the airport's passenger volumes growing from 1.5 mio in 2010, to six million by 2025.
