Jan 10, 2013 (newstodate): The Romanian MRO provider Aerostar saw growing business and expanded facilities in 2012.
Having based its MRO offerings on the Boeing 737 aircraft, Aerostar has now also added Airbus A320 to its portfolio based on Part 145 certification.
The company has won new MRO customers from both Dubai and Sharjah in the Gulf as well as from airlines in Morocco.
The company has been particularly successful in winning business from Turkey, with five airlines among its customers, while it has also secured overhaul work from an airline in Tajikistan.
60 percent of the company's turnover now derive from commercial aviation activities, including 45 percent from manufacture of commercial aviation products including aero-structures, landing gears and hydraulic systems, and 15 percent from MRO activities on commercial aircraft.
May 2012 saw the opening of a new 5,000 sq m hangar at Aerostar's Bacau facility, and the company also significantly extended its workshop maintenance capabilities in 2012.
Further investments are now underway to extend the company's composite repair capability.
