Jan 15, 2013 (newstodate): The Latvia-based Turkish ground handling company Havas Europe has decided to stop operations at Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport from March 10, 2013.
Formerly named North Hub Services, Havas Europe launched the operation on June 1, 2011, with Primera Air and Pegasus Airlines as its first customers.
The customer portfolio since grew considerably, and the company currently employs above 40 staff at the airport.
-I am extremely sad to announce this bad news that will affect quite a lot of our customers and certainly our staff now made redundant, says Janis Balkens, Havas Europe CEO.
-We have indeed seen the number of airline customers growing according to budgets, but in times like these many carriers have reduced their flight schedules, so even if we grew in customer portfolio, the number of flights decreased which was in the end unsatisfactory for our shareholders, says Mr Balkens.
