Jan 02, 2012 (newstodate): After less than two years, Copenhagen Airport is to lose its direct flight connection to Bahrain.
The Bahrain-based carrier Gulf Air is pulling out from the route with the last operation on February 4, 2013.
Flights were inaugurated on July 1, 2011, Gulf Air with four rotations using Boeing 737-700 aircraft, and frequency was increased to five weekly rotations from March 3, 2012, eventually going up to a daily rotation from June 1, 2012.
Competition on routes between Scandinavia and the Gulf region has, however, been increasingly stiff.
First to enter the market was Doha-based Qatar Airways calling at Copenhagen from March 30, 2010, followed by Gulf Air starting from July 1, 2011, and finally Emirates launching flights from Dubai to Copenhagen on August 1, 2011.
