Jan 10, 2013 (newstodate): In line with earlier statements on its future aircraft fleet, Icelandair has acquired a further two Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
The two ex-American Airlines Boeing 757-200 aircraft will join the Icelandair Group's existing fleet of 19 Boeing 757-200 aircraft including four freighters.
In December 2012, Icelandair placed orders with Boeing for delivery of 12 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, comprising both MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft - but it still sees a significant future with the Boeing 757 that will remain the backbone of the fleet for the next 10 years concerning the trans-Atlantic flights between North America and Europe via the carrier's hub at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
